Desrcription |
Installed on the turbocharger, the Electric WGT Control Actuator operates the valve in the Waste Gate Turbocharger (WGT) and regulates the amount of compressed air by using the ECM's PWM signal. This actuator consists of a DC motor which actuates the valve, a 2-step gear which increases torque of the DC motor, a position sensor which detects status of the valve, and an electric control unit which drives the DC motor.

Removal & Installation |
1. |
Turn the ignition switch OFF and disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal. |
2. |
Remove the air cleaner assembly. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Air Cleaner") |
3. |
Disconnect the EWGA extension connector (A).
|
4. |
Remove the intake pipe stay (A).
|
5. |
Remove the intake pipe (A).
|
6. |
Remove the heat protector (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.
|
7. |
Remove the turbo charger water pipe & hose (A).
|
8. |
Disconnect the shaft link (A) by removing the C-ring (B). |
9. |
Remove the electric waste gate actuator by loosening the bolts (C).
|
10. |
Installation is the reverse order of removal. |
Adjustment |
[Rod Adjustment Procedure Flowchart]
1. |
Check that the waste gate turbo charger is cool enough to work.
|
2. |
Turn the ignition switch to OFF position. |
3. |
Connect the diagnostic tool to DLC connector (16 pin) under the driver side instrument panel. |
4. |
Turn the ignition switch ON position.
|
5. |
Select VIN or Vehicle on the initial screen. |
6. |
Enter "Engine Control" menu after slelecting vehicle information (Vehicle model, Model year, Engine type) or entering the VIN number. |
7. |
Access to KDS Engine > Current Data |
8. |
Without starting the engine, cycle the ignition ON for 5seconds then ignition OFF for 5seconds then check the "Adaption value for the low mechanical stop of EWGA" on the KDS. Repeat this step until the amount of the adaption value change compared to previous cycle is below 0.05V.
|
9. |
Check that " Adaption value for the lower mechancal stop of EWGA" is within the specified voltage value.
|
10. |
If the voltage value measured is not within the specified voltage value, adjust the EWGA rod length. But, if no, no further procedure is required.
|
11. |
Install the rod end (B) to the turbo charger lever (A) temporarily. Don't tighten the rod end lock nut (C) and C-ring (D).
|
12. |
Check " Adaption value for the lower mechancal stop of EWGA" after selecting "Current Data" menu. Turn the ignition switch ON/OFF repeatedly until the changing value of " Adaption value for the lower mechancal stop of EWGA" is within 0.05V.
|
13. |
If the voltage value measured is not within the specified voltage value, repeat 9-12 procedures untill the voltage value is within the specified voltage value. |
14. |
Check that " Adaption value for the lower mechancal stop of EWGA" is within the specified voltage value. |
15. |
If it is within the specified voltage value, install the rod end to the turbo charger lever.
